The raw origin story behind Just Tracking. See how a team of logistics veterans went from making cold calls and getting hung up on to building an all-in-one platform that eliminates messy app subscriptions. Cut the fees, keep the profit, and run your business from a single dashboard.
The Background: Where It All Began
Every software company likes to claim they are "disrupting" the trucking industry. But let's be honest: many are built by engineers who have never dealt with a frantic 2:00 AM driver call, an uncooperative shipper, or a broker trying to shave a significant portion off a rate.
We didn't build Just Tracking from a Silicon Valley incubator. We built it from the trenches.
Our team has spent years in logistics. We've experienced booming freight markets and painful downturns. We've handled late-night emergencies, solved operational headaches, and lived the realities that carriers, brokers, and dispatchers face every day.
After years in the industry, we understood its strengths, but we also knew exactly where it was falling short.
The idea for Just Tracking wasn't born in a boardroom. It happened during an ordinary, chaotic day at the office. Phones were ringing, drivers needed updates, customers wanted answers, and loads had to keep moving.
In the middle of that chaos, our CEO and the team looked around and realized something simple:
"We can make this easier for the people actually doing the work."
That moment became the beginning of Just Tracking. We wanted to build more than another software company. We wanted to build something genuinely useful.
Just Tracking in the Beginning: Making Cold Calls and Getting Hung Up On
The first version of Just Tracking was a simple driver tracking platform. But even then, we knew it was only the first step toward something much bigger.
We're also transparent about something many companies avoid discussing.
Running a reliable, real-time platform requires significant infrastructure, security, development, and ongoing investment. While we'd love to keep everything free forever, sustainable growth eventually requires premium services that allow us to continue improving the platform.
But one thing will never change. Our mission is to save the industry money, not create another monthly subscription.
Today, trucking companies pay for a growing collection of separate software just to run their businesses. Tracking, load boards, TMS platforms, communication tools, customer credit checks, navigation, and visibility systems all exist in different places, each with its own subscription, login, and workflow.
We believe it shouldn't be this complicated. From day one, our vision has been far bigger than building another tracking platform. We're building a connected logistics ecosystem where the industry's essential tools work together in one place.
Our platform is designed for everyone involved in moving freight: carriers, brokers, and dispatchers alike.
Ironically, our biggest challenge wasn't technology. It was trust.
Because we wanted to support the trucking community, we launched the platform completely free and started calling carriers and dispatchers.
The response was almost always the same.
"What's the catch?"
Then... Click
In trucking, if something sounds too good to be true, people assume it's a scam.
So instead of selling, we spent months educating people. We explained that we were building the platform and needed real users to help us improve it. Every bug report, suggestion, and honest conversation helped shape Just Tracking into what it is today.
The carriers who believed in us early didn't just use our platform. They helped build it.
We also believe one of the industry's most important groups has been overlooked.
Dispatchers.
Every successful carrier depends on them, yet no platform has truly been built around their daily workflow. Most software simply treats dispatchers as another user inside a carrier account.
We think they deserve better.
Our long-term vision includes giving dispatchers their own dedicated workspace, a platform designed specifically for how they work, allowing them to manage fleets, collaborate with carriers, communicate efficiently, and organize their operations without juggling multiple disconnected systems.
This isn't about replacing every trucking software company.
It's about eliminating software fragmentation.
It's about reducing unnecessary costs.
It's about building one platform that grows alongside your business instead of forcing you to stitch together half a dozen different tools just to get through the day.
The trucking industry has changed. Your software should change with it.
We're building Just Tracking one step at a time, alongside the people who use it every day. Because the best logistics software isn't built by people guessing how the industry works. It's built by people who have lived it.
We don't just serve the trucking industry. We come from it.
